President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to participate in the Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit, which begins on January 27.
The President landed at 10:20 p.m. (8:20 p.m. Nigerian time) and was welcomed by Tanzania’s Foreign Minister, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, and Nigeria’s Chargé d’Affaires to Tanzania, Ambassador Salisu Suleiman.
The two-day summit is being organized by the Tanzanian government, the African Union, the African Development Bank Group, and the World Bank Group.
On the first day, at the ministerial level, countries taking part, including Nigeria, will present their national energy strategies, known as compacts, outlining their plans to achieve universal energy access within the next five years.
On the second day, heads of state will approve the Dar es Salaam Energy Declaration, which will lay out a collective roadmap for Africa’s advancement toward the goals of Mission 300.
Tinubu will give a national address reaffirming Nigeria’s dedication to attaining universal energy access and its leadership in Africa’s energy sector.
He will also emphasize Nigeria’s current clean energy efforts and its strategy to promote integrated energy solutions across the continent.
Amb. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Power, Mr. Olu Verheijen, the President’s Special Adviser on Energy, and other high-ranking government officials joined the President on the trip.
