President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presentation of Nigeria’s ₦47.9 trillion 2025 budget to the National Assembly has been postponed from Tuesday, December 17, to Wednesday, December 18, 2024.
A senior official in the National Assembly confirmed the delay and stated that an official notice regarding the change is expected soon.
Earlier, Senate President Godswill Akpabio had announced that the budget would be presented on December 17 during a plenary session.
The budget presentation was initially scheduled to take place in the House of Representatives Chamber, with plenary starting at 10:30 a.m. Senators were expected to join their counterparts in the House for the event.
This change follows the submission of the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) for 2025–2027 by President Tinubu last month, an important step in the budget preparation process.
The ₦47.9 trillion proposal has generated significant interest as it outlines the government’s fiscal plans and priorities for the upcoming year.
Lawmakers and other stakeholders are awaiting further details on the reason for the schedule change, as attention now turns to the revised presentation date on December 18.
