Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the recent election, has voiced his concern about President Bola Tinubu’s absence from the country during a time of economic and other challenges facing the nation.
Honorable Fm notes that Tinubu left Nigeria on October 2 for a two-week working vacation in the United Kingdom as part of his annual leave.
Recent reports also indicate that the president has traveled from the UK to Paris, France, where he is scheduled to attend an “important engagement” after spending more than a week in the UK.
Two weeks after his departure, Obi released a statement on Friday questioning why the president has not yet returned.
“The President informed us he would be away for only 14 days. Now that the time has elapsed, we are still waiting for his return.
“Given the pressing issues in our troubled nation, one would expect him to come back sooner than anticipated.”
“The immense suffering inflicted on our people due to certain policies of his administration is beyond comprehension, and we urgently need his attention to guide the nation out of this crisis,” he stated.
