Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources, has pledged his support and loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, stating that the days of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state are numbered.
In a statement on Tuesday, Ado-Doguwa apologized to the Osun APC for his recent remarks, which the party believed favored Governor Ademola Adeleke and the PDP over the APC.
Ado-Doguwa, a prominent APC leader from Kano State, had recently represented House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas at the Ede Day celebration, where he reportedly praised Governor Adeleke’s development efforts in Osun State.
However, the Osun APC, through its spokesman Kola Olabisi, expressed dissatisfaction, accusing Ado-Doguwa of undermining the party.
In a statement on Tuesday, Ado-Doguwa apologized, accusing the PDP of distorting his remarks for political advantage.
He emphasized his unwavering support for the APC and reaffirmed that the days of the ruling PDP in Osun State were numbered.
He stated, “I was taken out of context. Truly, the PDP media team in Osun misinterpreted my remarks and used them to attack our party, the APC, in the midst of their local political conflicts.”
“It was truly unfortunate that my harmless remarks were exploited for cheap political gain,” he said.
However, he added, “I would like to offer my sincere and wholehearted apology to our APC family in Osun State. Please accept my deepest and most heartfelt apologies. By God’s grace, the days of the PDP in Osun are numbered. In 2026, our party will make a strong comeback in the state, Insha Allah.
“I will always remain a loyal and proud member of the APC, the largest political party in Africa. As one of the party’s founding members, I am a dedicated promoter of the APC, not just in Kano, but nationwide.
“I urge my APC colleagues in Osun to accept my apologies for any comments or statements that may have seemed contrary to my party. I never intended to undermine or bring embarrassment to my party for any reason.”
