Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, stated that his boss has never claimed the title of Minister of Petroleum.
Onanuga stated that the Petroleum Ministry is overseen by two ministers under the supervision of President Tinubu. He made this announcement while appearing on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Sunday.
Onanuga stated: “The President has never referred to himself as the Minister of Petroleum; that’s something the media has created. We actually have two ministers, and from the President’s perspective, we have two ministers of petroleum, one of whom specializes in gas.
“This is an area that the previous government overlooked, despite Nigeria being more of a gas country than an oil country. President Tinubu is prioritizing gas.
“Recently, Obasanjo acknowledged that he made a mistake by not emphasizing gas during his administration, and Tinubu is correcting that by ensuring we focus on gas. The President oversees all his ministers; he is in charge of everything.”
