An All Progressives Congress (APC) leader in Bauchi State, Sunusi Takko, has criticized former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi for his public attacks on President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Takko, a former member of the 2023 APC Presidential Campaign Council, called Amaechi’s remarks unpatriotic and urged him to move on from his defeat to Tinubu in the 2022 APC presidential primaries.
Amaechi recently expressed concern over the country’s economic difficulties, questioning why young people are not protesting against Tinubu’s government.
In response, Takko, in a Sunday statement, questioned whether Amaechi was still bitter about losing the presidential ticket to Tinubu.
“Just because he lost to Bola Tinubu by a large margin doesn’t justify trying to destabilize the situation or incite actions that could lead to harm and destruction in Nigeria.
Amaechi should remember to remain loyal to those who have supported him in his journey to his current position, as what goes around comes around.
The concerns raised by Rotimi Amaechi, urging the youth to rise against President Tinubu, were already addressed in the President’s October 1 speech, and steps are being taken to provide solutions.”
“One of such measures is the proposed National Youths Confab, which has been applauded by millions of Nigerian youths and will start yielding positive results in ameliorating some of these issues.”
The Bauchi politician urged Amaechi to adopt a more statesmanlike approach and practice true democracy, noting that he has no obstacles in reaching out to the President directly rather than using improper means to express his grievances.
Similarly, APC leader in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, urged politicians to avoid making statements that could incite Nigerians into violent protests due to the country’s current hardship.
He also called on security agencies to stay vigilant and ensure that anyone attempting to provoke unrest faces the appropriate consequences.
Oyintiloye stressed that any politician exploiting the nation’s difficulties to incite the public against the government should be regarded as an enemy of the state.
He emphasized that during this challenging period, President Tinubu requires prayers and the support of all Nigerians to stabilize the economy for everyone’s benefit.
He acknowledged the current economic challenges but assured that they are temporary, as the President is working diligently to restore the economy for the good of all Nigerians.
“While we are waiting for that, I do not think inciting the masses against the government is the best way to go.I will strongly advise those politicians who are calling people to protest against the government to desist or be ready to face the law,” Oyintiloye said.
