The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has made a shocking discovery, as over 3,000 individuals who falsely claim to be university graduates despite never having attended a university.
Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the JAMB Registrar noted that fake graduates are as a result of endemic corruption in the system. This revelation was made during a meeting with the leadership of the Committee of Pro-Chancellors of State Universities (COPSUN).
The board has documented these cases and is working to address the issue of illegal admissions in tertiary institutions, which Oloyede termed as an “embarrassment and disservice to the nation.”
This discovery highlights the need for increased vigilance and accountability in the education sector to prevent fraudulent activities and ensure the integrity of university degrees.
