The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has expressed profound shock and grief over the tragic event in Taura Local Government Area, Jigawa State.
He offered heartfelt condolences to the government and people of the state after a fuel tanker explosion resulted in the loss of more than 140 lives.
In a press statement, Ganduje shared his sorrow over the tragedy, stating, “I am deeply saddened by the news of the catastrophic tanker explosion in Jigawa State, which took over 150 lives and left many others seriously injured.”
The death toll from Wednesday’s petrol tanker explosion has increased to 147.
Shu’aibu Hambali, Chairman of Taura LGA, confirmed the updated casualty count during a live broadcast on Arewa Radio.
In the meantime, mass burials have been conducted for the 147 individuals who lost their lives while attempting to collect fuel from the tanker wreckage.
The APC National Chairman also conveyed his deep sorrow, offering condolences to the victims, their families, and the people of Jigawa State.
“This heartbreaking incident reminds us of life’s fragility and the need to prioritize safety in our daily activities. I pray that Almighty Allah grants the departed eternal peace and provides comfort to their families during this difficult time.”
The National Chairman stressed that the APC stands in solidarity with the government and people of Jigawa State during this difficult time, providing steadfast support.
“We recognize the severity of this tragedy and its effects on the community.
“As a party, we are dedicated to assisting relief efforts and ensuring that those affected receive the help they need.
“We call on all Nigerians to join us in praying for the victims and their families,” he said.
Additionally, Ganduje praised the emergency responders and medical personnel for their dedication, acknowledging their commendable service in caring for the injured.
“To the people of Jigawa State, I want to assure you that you are not alone in this time of sorrow. We share in your pain and loss, and we will support you as you recover and rebuild.”
In closing, Ganduje called on the nation to view this tragedy as a reminder of the shared responsibility to prioritize safety and well-being.
He once again extended his heartfelt condolences, praying that Allah (SWT) blesses Jigawa State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
